Some Plausible Answers to

Sometimes Awkward Questions
What Is The Purpose Of Life?
I have found an answer to one of the age old questions that has bugged the human race since we first became aware: What is the purpose of life?
Now let me qualify that claim by saying it is AN answer; one that sits comfortably with me at this particular point in my life. I share it with you not as the definitive answer to this perplexing question, but to encourage you to continue, or maybe even start, your own exploration.
So, given that proviso, here it is:The Purpose Of Life, according the An Old Bald Dreamer is:
TO BECOME THE BEST YOU POSSIBLE .
You may be thinking, is that it? Well, let me unpack those six words a little more so you are able to understand just where I am coming from.
As we go about our daily lives we have experiences. Some of them are pretty mundane, even boring. Some can be overwhelming, even life changing. Now the experiences that we each have contribute to the person we become. You are the sum total of your yesterdays; all the experiences and ways you have responded to those things that happened in your life.
That is true for each one of us. Now here comes the really interesting part. Each one of us has had a different set of life experiences. Even if we shared a common, or even the same experience, it invariably happened at a different point in each of our lives, and so will have a different impact on each of us than it did for the others who experienced that same, or a similar, event.
The older we grow, the larger the 'sum total of our yesterdays' becomes, and so the more unique each one of us becomes. In a very real sense it is our individual uniqueness that is our particular potential contribution to the world. I would even go so far as to say the world is all the poorer if we do not, or are unable to, share our unique perspective with others.
I won't experience in my life every thing you have experienced. But I can be enriched by learning of your experiences and hearing how you dealt with them. I trust the reverse is also true.
That is best able to happen if we each take the life we have been granted and live it to the full. Life is, after all for the living! It is the prize we each get for winning the only race that really matters, the egg and sperm race.
Those differences in an individual's outlook on life, even if only minor and very subtle, is what adds colour to other people's perspective. It's such a pity that few of us ever get the opportunity to make our unique contribution.
